Next-Gen Kia Sorento Rendering Looks Crisp, Should Be Accurate

We could have just shown you the latest spy video of the Kia Sorento at the Nurburgring today. But that's basically the same thing you've already seen.

Instead, we dug a little deeper and found this set of renderings from a Korean website called Bobaedream. They accurately depict this fresh SUV design. Not only does it look accurate based on what we've already seen, but since this is a 3D model, it can't copy elements from existing cars (which would be wrong).

The 2020 Sorento is codenamed MQ4 and could debut within a few months. The styling won't be radically different from what's already on the market, since Kia has an existing customer base it wants to cater to, a bit like with the Soul or Forte.

If anything, this model is cleaner, with simple lines describing the lights and grille. The sides are a pure family crossover, with no unnecessary frills or over the top innovations. From some angles, it looks a little like the Seltos, a much smaller but equally fresh design from Kia.

It's rumored that this Range Rover of Korean cars will have all sorts of cool powertrains, like hybrids, plug-in hybrids and even a production fuel cell. Solar panels on the roof? Maybe. The K-series sedans have already begun receiving the latest 2.5-liter GDI engines, which will make about 195 horsepower normally or upwards of 250 when turbocharged.

Some markets will also have diesel engines, but not North America. We're talking about a 2.2-liter unit that's already present in many larger Korean cars, but which could benefit from a 48V mild-hybrid helper.

The 2021 Sorento will make its official debut in South Korea early next year. After that, probably around the time of the New York Auto Show, it will land as a 2021 model in Canada and the US.
