Ladies and gentlemen drivers, you don't have to wait for the upcoming 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 or the future 2018 BMW M5 to show up in order to enjoy the mandatory battle between the two, as the Nurburgring is already offering us the opportunity to indulge in such pleasures.

Both incarnations of the German super-sedan God are currently out testing on the Green Hell and, if you use the pair of spy videos below, comparing them shouldn't be too difficult.

Who would've though such an occasion will make for an AWD brawl? As those of you following our spy stories know, both sedans will go through quite a grip transformation.

While the W213 E63 will, for the first time, only be available in all-four trim, the F90 M5 will see its list of options accommodating an all-wheel-drive system, a feature that could've done wonders for its predecessors.

Purists may cringe when reading any of these two traction-savvy details, but the 2017 Porsche Panamera, which comes in AWD form for any model with more than 400 hp shows that leaving RWD behind is a sales-boosting move.

Speaking of power, the BMW will keep its twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, with the obvious modifications brought to the unit expected to bring it in the 600+ hp area.

As for the Affalterbach-massaged E-Class, this will sit around the same 600 hp mark (rumors state the E63 will pack 563 hp, while the E63 S should go closer to 600 hp), coming from the carmaker's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8.

Here's to hoping the drama-free handling we see in these videos has to do with the drivers' determination and is not a sign of a setup that focuses on lap times alone, leaving the slight oversteer pleasures out.

Regardless, when it comes to the aural side of this battle, we can't say we're surprised by the winner - check out the videos and you'll understand.
