These two design sketch images are not official ones, leaked by Kia's design studios. They're actually done by Kia World based on their recent spy mages of the generation Sorento SUV, due out some time next year and expected to be marketed as a 2016 model in America.
Kia and Hyundai have an unmistakable look for their design sketches and this is clear in our two images. They suggest a stronger, sportier look for the next generation Sorento, which look to be a little bigger than the model before it.
A new grille design is evident, still recognizable as a "tiger nose", but with a modern flare, since it connects to the headlights and flows into the hood. Underneath that, Kia World says we can expect to find a turbocharged 2-liter, a 3.3-liter GDI V6 and, in Europe, a 2.2-liter CRDI diesel.
The overall look is very similar to that of the K9 flagship sedan and the all-new 2015 Sedona minivan. For a while now, some of our readers have been telling us that the SUV we're spying is not actually the Sorento, but the larger Borego. We're relieved to see that we were actually right and that Kia is indeed developing a brother to the Santa Fe.
The same source even has a debut date for us. Apparently, the new Kia Sorento will first be shown in South Korea this September. A couple of months later, it will celebrate its US debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
