As BMW is currently the biggest luxury manufacturer in the world, Audi is definitely not satisfied with the runner-up position it's currently on. That's why, according to Bloomberg, the Ingolstadt-based company will aim the new A8 more directly at the 7 Series and S-Class.
Set to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the facelift A8 will reportedly be fitted with new LED headlights and a lot of other important technology to take some of the customers away from the 7er and S.
Further massive investments are supposed to bring the total car sales of Audi up to 1.5 million units next year. The amount of investments done by the Volkswagen sub-brand rises to €11 billion ($14.5 billion) by 2015, in the drastic attempt to catch up to BMW.
As far as the full-size premium sedans go, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is currently on top, with 80,300 units sold, followed by BMW's 7 Series with 59,200 units whilst the A8 is trailing with 38,600 units so far.
