We’ve said it before, one of the advantages of being a successful sportsman is that car companies gift if not borrow you autos so that that they use your fame to promote their services. This time, we’re talking about a game that is played by 120 million players throughout the world, making it the world’s second-most popular sport. That, and a Volkswagen Tiguan.
You live, you learn. We knew cricket is popular in the UK and some other countries, but little did we know that it’s that famous. The bat-and-ball game is also quite common in New Zealand too, which takes us to mister Brendon McCullum here, a gifted ball hitter who currently sits on the podium in terms of awards worldwide.

The 33-year-old pro now plays as a batsman for the Otago Volts at the provincial level, the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, Warwickshire in the English domestic league, and New Zealand internationally. He is currently busy with the Birmingham Bears, and since he’s in town, Motorpoint, UK’s largest independent car retailer, thought to offer him a ride.

Brendon is using a new VW Tiguan from the Birmingham branch of the company during his time with the reigning NatWest T20 Blast champions. This comes for a reason, mind you. You see, Motorpoint agreed a new partnership with Edgbaston, home of the Birmingham Bears, earlier this month. This deal sees the company become the “Official Car Partner” to the world-famous cricket ground for the next three years.

Again, being a successful sportsman comes with car benefits, and we can’t but appreciate the fact auto companies do it, thus encouraging competition and hard work.
