The MINI stand at the New York Auto Show 2014 might very well be the most impressive one. Not because of the new models or the 1.5-liter engines put up on display but rather because they have a rally champion car over there, the MINI Countryman ALL4 Racing that won the 2014 Dakar Rally.
Next to this impressive beast, powered by a BMW 3-liter diesel engine, sits the ’normal’ model, the one you can take home and take your kids to school with, the 2015 Countryman.

Starting with July, this model will receive a couple of updates, emphasized by the car that was put up for display in NY. From the new Jungle Green Metallic paint to the new hexagonal grille up front and the painted underride elements that aim to make the 5-door MINI more attractive.

The engines were also upgraded and, even though only the 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol unit from the Cooper S received more power (192 HP), all of them are now EU6 compliant.

Other changes include more standard kit from now on and more optional extras. Of course, with the improved powerhouses come reduced CO2 emissions and better mpg estimates that should make a difference to the more pretentious customers out there.

The updated version will go on sale in the US starting July, only petrol variants being available, at least for now.
