A recent study conducted by Colliers International for the year 2011 compared parking rates in different locations through the US and outside the country. The place with the highest figures on the list is New York, a fact that probably doesn’t surprise anyone. Prices may vary by district, but the highest rated area came out to be Manhattan, more specifically right in midtown, with an average of $541/month.

Downtown follows closely with $533, as expected Boston coming in third with an average of $438/month. This adds up to a national average of $155.22 monthly. On the parking rates Top Ten, San Francisco managed to place itself on a decent fourth place with a $375/month parking taxes. Furthermore, Philadelphia follows with $304/month, while on the sixth place is the $294/month average in Seattle followed close by Chicago with $289/month.

Washington manages to keep a relatively low rate of $260/month and in the last two places came Honolulu with $217/month and Los Angeles, which barely makes the list with $210/month.
.
As for the parking rates outside U.S., you'd better prepare yourself .The parking rate in London reaches a mind blowing $1,084/month which makes it the most expensive “parking place” in the world. Parking in Zurich will set you back $822/month, while that in Rome will cost you $719/month.

The facts revealed by the Colliers International study are nor likely to improve anytime soon. Across the U.S., construction is undergoing on only 5 substantial parking structures, also Canada has seven such structures in progress nationally, but neither of them are likely to change the parking scenery significantly.
