Things don’t always go according to plan, and while most US F1 fans were hoping to get two races on US soil, it appears that they’ll have to make do with just one, at least until 2014, as the race which was supposed to take place on June 16, 2013, has been posponed. Now, while no official statement has been made, the race is njow listed on the official F1 site as “to be confirmed”.
The F1 race, which will be held next month on the Circuit of the Americas, near Austin, Texas is not affected and it will start according to plan. According to Autoweek, who have ‘additional sources’ of information, it would appear that the race organizer Leo Hindery Jr. failed to raise the necessary funds to make everything happen - the amount of money was rumored to be around $30-million per year.
It`s a shame we won`t get to see F1 cars being abused on the streets of New York and New Jersey, as it would have really been a special moment. At least we got a great promotional video we can watch over and over again, until 2014, when the race is expected to finally debut.
