The reveal of the all-new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been coming for a while, and now, it looks as though we finally have a date and a time: Thursday, January 7, 12:00 p.m. EST. If you read this as it comes out, that would be tomorrow at noon, Eastern Standard Time.
Given the situation we're all in, the event will be held online and streamed on YouTube. News of the reveal broke out recently after select customers started receiving mysterious emails from Jeep that didn't mention any particular model but did talk about "the most awarded SUV" and "adding something new to the adventure - a third row."

Later on, Jeep dealers started posting pictures of their own invitations, and these left no doubt over the identity of the vehicle in question: it is indeed the new Grand Cherokee. Unlike the event for the rest of the public, the dealer presentation will apparently take place two hours earlier.

Camouflaged 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee test cars have been showing up for some time now, and yet not that much is known about the new model. Some reports say it will ride on Alfa Romeo Stelvio's Giorgio platform, and even though that would make plenty of sense, nothing is confirmed at the moment.

What we do know is that the model will feature a hybrid version. Whether it'll be similar (or even identical) to the powertrain in the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, on the other hand, remains to be seen. That uses a four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine and two electric motors for a combined output of 375 hp and 470 lb-ft (636 Nm) of torque, which sounds like more than enough to cope with the larger Grand Cherokee as well.

Design-wise, everyone expects something in the vein of the Grand Wagoneer, and they're most likely right. That's where the Grand Cherokee's biggest problem might lie as not everybody is on board with the way the top Jeep model looks like. If you're one of those, you have roughly one day left to make peace with this new design direction because the dice have been cast, and the point of no return is way behind us.

If Jeep wants to silence the critics, all it needs to do is show the Trackhawk version that we're sure will look brilliant. However, while the three-row version of the new Grand Cherokee is expected to enter production this March, the two-row version will only follow in the second half of the year.

Hopefully, given how close we are to the start of production, the event scheduled for tomorrow will reveal all there is to know about the new Jeep SUV, from appearance to features, trim levels, powertrains, and, of course, prices. Stay tuned.
