New Volvo FMX Truck to Launch at Bauma Exhibition

Swedish manufacturer Volvo Trucks announced it will be introducing a new truck at the Bauma exhibition on April 19, the Volvo FMX. Volvo Trucks has separated the FM range into two dedicated parts: construction and distribution. The new truck is designed specifically for heavy tasks within the construction segment, Volvo Trucks says in statement.

"This is a great truck, and I'm very proud of it. The new Volvo FMX really puts us - and our customers - in pole position," said Staffan Jufors, President and CEO at Volvo Trucks.

Details of the new truck, including powerplant, performance figures, fuel consumption, load capacity and pricing are to be revealed at the upcoming exhibition.

"Customers are asking for increased specialisation and we are listening to them," continued Staffan Jufors. "The purpose-engineered Volvo FMX is the proof - a truck that truly reflects its capabilities, inside and out. It breathes construction."

"We already have great success with our current Volvo FM model, particularly in Russia, Eastern Europe and the Nordic markets. With the new specialised Volvo FMX, we see a huge potential to increase marketshares even further - on all markets," added Jufors.

Last week, Volvo Trucks also unveiled a new version of the Volvo FM with a new engine range, which is also expected to be found on the new FMX as well. The 13-litre engine in combination with Volvo I-Shift reduces fuel consumption by up to three percent compared to the earlier version, while offering power output of up to 500 hp and torque peaks at 2,500 Nm.

Both the D13 engine and the already existing D11 are available in variants that comply with the EEV (Enhanced Environmentally friendly Vehicle) norm.
