“Our ground-breaking Volvo Dynamic Steering is a fantastic improvement, especially for a construction driver. It will result in less muscle strain and help relieve drivers of neck, arm and back aches. Now, even at low speeds, a heavily-loaded truck is so easy to manoeuvre that you can steer it with one finger,” says Claes Nilsson.

The cab interior has been redesigned and a number of innovations make the driver’s job more efficient. The 2013 FMX also gets new rear air suspension created specifically for use on contraction sites. It provides 300mm of ground clearance and is available in both 4x2 and 6x4 configuration.

The FMX will soon be available for all Volvo Trucks customers with either 11- or 13-liter engines. The bigger D13 has power outputs from 420 to 500 horsepower, while the D11 spans the range from 330 to 450 horsepower. Models sold in Europe comply with the latest Euro-6 emissions standards, but those sold elsewhere can be adapted to less stringent Euro-3, Euro-4 and Euro-5.

“The new FMX bases its personality on its honest, capable image. What you see is exactly what you get. A fully-equipped tool, one hundred per cent ready for hard work,” says Design Director Rikard Orell. “This construction truck is like a genuine action hero – it just looks better and better after it’s been hard at work.”
