New Volvo FMX Truck Details and Photos Released

Finally, the new Volvo FMX truck, built for heavy construction activities, broke cover after being officially introduced at the Bauma Fair on April 19. The new truck will be available on European markets in September and is to be followed by a global launch later in the year.

The visual appearance of the new Volvo FMX boasts a new upper grill, aggressive lower front, 3-part steel bumper with 3 mm thick steel corners, rugged skid plate and protective bull bar. The truck also features a powerful tow hook, headlamp mesh protection, new anti-slip steps and a convenient ladder. to name just a few.

"A quick glance at this truck and its powerful stance immediately reveals the close connection between Volvo Trucks and our sister-company, Volvo Construction Equipment - among the world leaders in dumpers, excavators and wheel-loaders," Staffan Jufors, President and CEO, Volvo Trucks, said in a release. "The new Volvo FMX literally breathes construction - reflecting its capabilities, inside and out."

Based on the FM platform, the new FMX is powered by either a 11-litre engine (330 to 450 hp) or the 13-litre engine (380 to 500 hp). The truck also includes the recently updated construction version of the I-Shift gearbox and a new load sensor for an optimized gear sequence and smooth start.

"This is the perfect construction truck - and our customers have largely driven its development," added Jufors. "With all the improvements in the Volvo FMX, combined with the development of a strong service offering for the construction business, we hope that our existing customers will become even more satisfied. We also have high expectations that this new truck and our unique total offer for the construction segment will attract many new customers."

Pricing for the new FMX model is to be revealed closer to the market launch.
