Want to enjoy the look of a sporty hot hatch but would rather have a small and efficient engine as your highway companion? Volkswagen really has no problem with that, and about half a year after they launched the new Golf VII hatchback, the R-Line package has been introduced.
Right now, it's only available in Europe, since the US won't get the new Golf until next year. It's already available in Germany in three forms, the R-Line exterior package, R-Line interior pack and an R-Line Sport kit for better handling.

The exterior package brings a new front bumper that does away with those razor blade-like accents the Golf had. It also adds a rear diffuser, flared wheel arches and of course R-Line logos. The cosmetic package is only available for the Golf Confortline for €1,180 ($1,550) and for the Highline trim level for €995 ($1,300).

Things are slightly more affordable as far as the interior is concerned. The R-Line kit changes the look of he seats with new cloth centers and alcantara sides with logos on them. You also get a sporty leather covered steering wheel and gear lever, all for €945 ($1,240) if you buy it with a Golf Comfortline or €640 ($840) with the Highline.

Finally, if you don't like normal suspension, you can have your car with GTI-like lowered suspension and progressive steering for €430 ($560).
