After the all electric version, the e-Golf, it's time for the GTD to be showcased by the Germans. Basically a diesel version of the sporty GTI, the GTD got a new turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four TDI engine with 184 HP and 280 lb-ft of torque.

The GTD's exterior is no different than the GTI's, and the car can only be had in three colors: Tornado Red, Black and Pure White. The aggressiveness is well built around the body kit, the blacked-out grille, the 17-inch sport wheels, or the smoke-finished LED tail lights.

Getting to the interior, the GTD will benefit from the usual sporty features, such as flat-bottomed steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, black headliner, ambient lighting and special gauge cluster readout.

The diesel seventh-generation Golf GTD will hit the German showrooms in June with a starting price of $38,939 (EUR 29,350).
