The first Vauxhall commercial vehicle to feature Start/Stop technology is now available to British dealerships, the carmaker announced today. Dubbed Corsavan ecoFLEX, the car is powered by the new Euro 5-compliant 1.3 CDTi with its 95 horsepower, which is now able to achieve CO2 emissions of 95 grams per kilometer.
The improved emissions figures are achieved thanks to a number of efficiency improvements including a variable geometry turbocharger, lowered chassis, aerodynamic wheel covers and optimised gear ratios with a ‘shift up’ indicator. These upgrades help the Corsavan ecoFLEX achieve Euro 5 compliancy as well as an impressive 78.3 mpg (UK) on the combined cycle and 65.6 mpg urban driving.
“It’s great news that the Corsavan ecoFLEX is top of its class for CO2 emissions,” said Steve Bryant, Vauxhall’s Commercial Vehicle Brand Manager. “Griffin-badged vans are well known for their low running costs and Vauxhall’s most economical commercial vehicle ever is further proof of this.”
The van has also been fitted with an enhanced starter motor, along with a high performance battery and Electric Power Management system, for efficient re-starts that are needed for commercial service life. An additional water pump keeps the cabin warm in cool weather during the stop phase, and owners have the ability to turn off Start/Stop completely via a dashboard button.
Vauxhall states that the Coravan ecoFLEX model is priced at £13,048.33 on-the-road. The model can be ordered starting today.
“Corsavan has seen strong sales in the first half of 2011, up 20 per cent on last year. Sales to private buyers have been buoyed by the offer of four years’ 0% APR finance, four years’ free servicing, a four year warranty and four years’ AA cover,” the Luton carmaker says.
