Pulse SMS remains one very popular app for millions of users on Android, so it’s no surprise that many of those who already installed it run it on Android Auto too.
Not a long time ago, it was discovered that this top SMS app for Android suddenly stopped working on Android Auto for a reason that wasn’t really easy to figure out.

The issue was discovered earlier this year when users who updated Pulse SMS, Android Auto, the Google app, and all the other related apps were provided with an error indicating that their favorite SMS app was no longer supported.

As it turns out, this was just a blunder on Google’s side, and the company actually resolved the whole thing only a few weeks ago with an update for the Google app.

The Google Assistant team rolled out a fix for this issue. For the best performance, please make sure your Google app version is up-to-date and let us know how it goes. Thanks!” a Google engineer announced in mid-May when rolling out a fix.

The good news is that Pulse SMS is also getting more and more improvements on Android, and a new version went live only a few days ago.

Now at version 5.3.3.2751, the app that has over 1 million installations from the Google Play Store adds extra refinements to the main 5.3 build. While the dev team hasn’t provided a changelog, given it’s just a minor version updated from the previous release we can safely assume it’s all focused on polishing the experience even further and addressing some of the bugs discovered lately.

The current changelog that’s posted in the Google Play Store points to the same improvements that were rolled out in version 5.3 and which allow users to hide message content in notifications.

When enabled, the content of the new message will not be displayed within the notification - only the conversation title. This preference is for those people that want a bit more privacy out of their notifications!” the dev team explains.

The latest version of the Pulse SMS app is available from the Google Play Store right now.
