It looks like Toyota’s redesigned Aqua (Prius c) hybrid model will regain its top spot as the most efficient vehicle after loosing it in front of Honda’s Fit Hybrid back in September.
Toyota said yesterday that the new Aqua model will offer a fuel economy of 37 kilometers per liter (2.7 l/100km or 87 mpg US) according to the JC08 Japanese standard.

The Toyota Aqua was released in December 2011, returning 35.4 kilometers per liter (2.8 l/100 km 83.2 mpg US) and got dethroned from its top spot in September this year after Honda remodeled its Fit Hybrid model to achieve 36.4 km/l (2.74 l/100 km or 85.6 mpg US).

Scheduled to go on sale in December, the updated Aqua will come with an enhanced engine, made to be stopped in less time and have a reduced resistance when starting up.
