Nothing Compares to the famous TopGear trio, and that’s a fact that the British TV presenter has to work with. That doesn’t mean the show won’t be a blast, as Chris Evans said he would shake up the format and find a way for people to grow fond of it.
Wait, isn’t TopGear dead? I thought Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are doing a new thing on Amazon Prime now. We’d be mean to say that, of course. TopGear lives on; it’s just a different format, new host and most likely new jokes.

Evans made the statement speaking in Cannes at the annual Mipcom TV trade show the other day. The BBC Radio 2 and TFI Friday presenter revealed that the new TopGear will return to the BBC in May, with a 16-episode return across two series. He also said he has no plans to replicate what the previous crew did.

They’re the Three Stooges. They are the Bee Gees. They are that, and I’m not. I’m me,” he told reporters during the fair in France. The discussion of the final format seems to be an ongoing theme as he then went “I’m a solo artist at the moment, I’m on my own. So do I form a band or not?”

As a matter of fact, according to the BBC, mostly anyone is invited to give it a try. The British TV star appealed to fans to send in their own audition tapes and has given screen tests to some of those who did. Moreover, previous rumors were that he was to form a team with the likes of Zoe Ball, Guy Martin and Dermot O’Leary among other possible candidates.

As to how things should look like, Evans also said the new format will have a different color while still keeping some details from the old format. "We are going to keep some things that I like, and my kids like, and my friends like, and that I liked anyway, but we are not going to throw the baby out with the bathwater."
