New Top Gear Presenters Confirmed, TV Show Returns in May

I know this may sound shocking to you because the announcement surprised the autoevolution team as well. People of the Internet, the 2016 Top Gear presenters are as follows: Chris Evans, Chris Harris, Sabine Schmitz, Eddie Jordan, Matt LeBlanc, Rory Reid, and tamed racing driver The Stig.

Have you ever imagined the Top Gear cast to become so diverse and numerous? With seven members, the team is lined up to revamp BBC Top Gear for the 23rd series. As anyone would’ve guessed by now, the show is going to be different in style and feel compared to what we had when Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May were presenting Top Gear.

Not to be confused with the actor playing Captain America in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Chris Evans is best known for his broadcasting career. The Big Breakfast, The One Show, TFI Friday, and the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 are his most famous commitments. The other Chris, who is known as Harris Monkey on Twitter, is a top automotive journalist. He wrote for Evo, Autocar, and Jalopnik. Other than that, Chris Harris likes to do huge powerslides on his YouTube channel, much to the amusement of his faithful fanbase.

Sabine Schmitz? She’s the blonde goddess of the Nürburgring. Her first appearance on Top Gear was in 2004 when the Queen of the Ring lapped the Green Hell in a Ford Transit van in 10 minutes and 8 seconds. Other than driving fast for a living, Sabine enjoys flying helicopters as a pastime activity. 67-year-old Eddie Jordan is the oldest presenter in the lineup. The Irish man founded Jordan Grand Prix. After the demise of the Formula 1 team, Jordan became a pundit for the BBC’s Formula 1 coverage from 2009 until 2015.

Matt LeBlanc will most probably insert car-themed jokes from Friends because the role of Joey Tribbiani will forever be attributed to him. He’s a legit car guy, though, having owned a Ferrari 360 Modena. The old school Prancing Horse was traded in after 12 years of ownership for a 458 Italia. Rory Reid, on the other hand, was recruited from the Top Gear auditions. CNET’s Car Tech channel and the Gadget Geeks series on Sky 1 are his former stints as a presenter.

And The Stig? He just wants to get behind the wheel and rip the tarmac off the Top Gear test track in Dunsfold, Surrey. The first episode of new Top Gear will be aired on BBC 2 on May 8.
