New Tesla Model S and X Buyers Get Free Supercharging, Old Customers Are Angry

At the start of last weekend, America's favorite electric car maker announced an offer few can refuse: all new buyers of Model S and Model X cars will once again get free and unlimited supercharging.
The move is a clear sign that Tesla wants to stir up the appeal of the two models, left behind in terms of sales by the success of the Model 3.

The announcement was made on August 3 on Tesla's Twitter page, and it does not give details about a possible end date to the offer. Also, the announcement doesn't say whether this perk to all Supercharger markets the cars are sold in.

Like all good things in life though, it's likely the carmaker will stop offering it at some point. Also, those who have just purchased one of these two models are feeling left out and betrayed.

"I JUST got a Model X a month ago. This is such bullshit way to treat customers if I don't get it. First the price drop and now this. @elonmusk love the X but this is a very frustrating experience as a customer," said in reply to the original tweet Tesla customer Jaspreet Singh.

"I have 3 Teslas, this isn't my first rodeo on price/option changes. But as a day 1 Raven X buyer, I feel used and abused. I have defended numerous Tesla price/option changes but in less than two months my cars price has come down thousands and now has FUSC. Frustrating," said another, EV Salt.

Tesla did not reply yet to these complaints, but rumor has it the company does not plan to extend to offer beyond the announced limits.

Tesla's supercharger network is one of the most comprehensive in the world. At the beginning of 2019, there were over 12,000 superchargers available worldwide, and that number is expected to grow rapidly over the next few years.
