New Tesla Model E Rendering

Elon Musk founded Tesla Motors about eleven years ago, but the company's first production electric car, the Tesla Roadster, didn't roll off the assembly line until 2008.

Based on the Lotus Elise, the Roadster was the first production automobile to use lithium-ion battery cells and the first EV to offer a range greater than 200 miles (320 km) on a single charge. With more than 2,250 units sold in 31 countries over four years, the Roadster was success.

But Tesla didn't stop there and created its first original design - the four-door Model S. A vehicle that sold more than 25,000 units since its introduction in late 2012 - nearly 5,000 of them were delivered to Europe. It won 2013 World Green Car of the Year, it was named Car of the Year by several industry magazines and helped Tesla post profits for the first time in 10 years.

Starting next year, the popular Model S will be joined by the Model X, which should help Tesla reach new heights in a booming crossover market. But their most anticipated release, an "affordable vehicle for the masses" that doesn't cost as much as a 2014 Corvette, is expected to debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.

The new sedan will be smaller than the Model S and it's rumored that it will be launched as the Model E. It will have a range of about 200 miles (320 km) on a single charge and will cost less than $40,000, Elon Musk revealed last year. He also said that the affordable sedan won't be just a smaller Model S, but the vehicle is expected to borrow some styling cues from the former.

We've shown you the very first rendering of the Tesla Model E about a month ago. It had a Model S front end, but it was quite different round the back. Now we're back with a new rendering for the small sedan. This one comes via RM.Design and sports even more cues from the bigger Model S. Scroll down to see it and tell us which one you like the most.
