New Suzuki Vitara UK Prices and Specs revealed

There’s a new kid on the block in the compact SUV segment and it is called Vitara. Of course, we knew that already since the model made its debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, but now Suzuki has released UK pricing and specs for the 5-door chubby SUV.

It has been quite a long way since the first Vitara made its market entrance in 1988 but Suzuki knew how to keep its boat floating for almost a quarter of a century. And now, the Japanese SUV is back in action, ready to make a fresh start.

Enough with the chit-chat, we know you want to hear numbers. Let’s go through engines first: the new Vitara can be equipped with either the M16A 1.6-liter petrol engine or the D16AA 1.6-liter DDiS diesel engine. For now, clients will have to settle for these two, but you didn’t hear it all.

The diesel unit received a new EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system and an electronically controlled variable geometry turbocharger. These improvements account for the 120 HP and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque delivered by the diesel engine.

On the other side of the fence, the petrol engine will try to satisfy clients’ needs with the same amount of horsepower but with a much lower maximum torque, rated at 156 Nm (115 lb-ft).
Moving on to equipment and pricing, Suzuki is saying that the new Vitara will be available in SZ4, SZ-T and SZ5 trims. Therefore, pricing will range from £13,999 ($21,586 / 18,985 euro) for the 1.6 petrol SZ4 with two-wheel drive to £21,299 ($32,843 / 28,891 euro) for the 1.6 diesel SZ5 ALLGRIP version.

In terms of safety, the SZ4 trim offers seven airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control plus front and rear electric windows and projector headlamps. Moving up a notch, SZ-T is adding 17-inch silver painted alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and navigation system.

Lastly, the SZ5 trim level is the one you really want (mind the price) as it comes with LED headlights, 17-inch polished alloy wheels, suede seat fabric and other tech gimmicks like keyless entry with start button, Adaptive Cruise Control, Radar Brake Support and a panoramic sunroof.
