New Subaru XV to Make World Debut in Frankfurt

Back in April, Subaru was presenting the Subaru XV Concept, a crossover that blends SUV practicality with a more fashionable form, at the Shanghai motor show. Now, the production version of that concept is to make its world debut at this upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show this fall.

Little is known about the all-new Subaru XV (European specifications), but the Japanese automaker promises we’ll find out more at the vehicle’s unveil on September 13th.

In concept form, the XV was powered by a 2.0l 4-cylinder Horizontally-Opposed DOHC engine, paired to a Lineatronic CVT transmission. Key styling features included hawk-eye headlamps, hexagonal-shaped rear and a panoramic glass roof. The concept also sat on aluminium alloy wheels with silver spokes, black rims and clear blue centre caps.

At the interior, the defining traits are the silvery white leather, sporty mesh in selected areas, yellowgreen piping and a large multifunction display in the centre panel.

However, we’ll just have to wait for the vehicle’s official presentation to see just how much of the concept got transferred to the production version.

Subaru says the car is designed around the key design concept word “Protren”, a mix of "Professional tool" and "Trendy design". “The concept was favourably received globally thanks to its distinctive and trendy design which blend a crossover-like commanding silhouette and an urban friendly image into one harmonious and elegant package,” the company explains.

autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
