New smart fortwo by Lorinser, Ready to Take On the Streets

For all you smart fortwo fans out there, the wait for the Lorinser customization package has ended. A year after unveiling the customized version of this second generation model to the large public, Sportservice Lorinser is finally bringing it to the streets. The modified fortwo features plenty on new exterior components as well as significant improvements in the car's on-road performance.

For starters, the newly-improved smart fortwo will feature a remapped three-cylinder petrol-fueled engine now delivering 101 HP as compared to the initial 84 HP in the street version (the basic 61-HP one liter powerplant was also upgraded to 71 HP). Also, the car will allegedly score under 10 seconds at the 0-62 mph sprint and be equipped with an electronic speed limiter that will keep you from passing the 100 mph line.

The improved power ratings – when also taking into consideration a weight of under 800 kg – as well as the increased width by 55 milimetres led to the introduction of new 225/35 R17 tires for improved stability and better handling. The spade-shaped spokes alloys also add to car's sportier look while improving the vehicle's dynamics. Another performance-enhancing update is the 4-pipe exhaust system.

In terms of car's exterior, the new fortwo by Lorinser features a redesigned bumper, wider and sportier air inset (U-shaped), new mesh, front lip spoiler and a redeveloped rear bumper – in order to accommodate the new exhaust system.

Internally, the Lorinser fortwo features plenty of lightweight components for reducing car's weight, including aluminium-made steering wheel, centre console, ventilation and handbrake lever, pedals and footrest. As for the overall price for the Lorinser package, one should know that the new body kit and engine update will cost around 6000 euros.
