"This collection represents a continuation of smart's activities in the field of urban creativity. And the variety of countries that the designers come from reflects our brand's international orientation – as of this year, we will be represented in 41 different markets," Marc Langenbrinck, Director Brand Management and Sales & Marketing for smart, explains in a press release.
The selected designer labels, which were chosen by colette from Paris, New York, Berlin, Sao Paolo and Copenhagen, were each asked to create an exclusive product for smart, taking into consideration the key values behind the urban car brand, such as urban mobility, design and sustainability. Each item is produced in a limited edition of 150 units.
The Brazilian shoe label Melissa designed two pairs of shoes, matte gray for men and silver smart for women, both made from recyclable plastic, based on the ‘less resources, more emotion’ theme. The shoes are priced at 45 euros ($63).
The T-shirt from the colette and smart collection was design by the Wood Wood design label in Copenhagen. The item is made from organic cotton and is priced at 52 euros ($73).
From where could the bag came from, if not from a New York label? The travel tote bag from Opening Ceremony is made from recycled materials and costs only 40 euros ($56).
Paris-based Andrea Crews designed hand-made items from recycled jewelry, which cost 80 euros each ($112). Finally, the Lala Berlin scarf, made from a mixture of organic cotton and silk with a hand-painted motif will cost you some 180 euros ($250).
The products from the new colette and smart collection can be ordered from colette’s store in Paris or online at www.colette.fr, while smart will be presenting these products at the ‘smart Urban Stage’ in Sao Paolo.
