The most efficient Skoda Octavia ever made has been unveiled today. It's called the Octavia GreenLine and it will show up at the Frankfurt Motor Show later in the day.
But what is it, a hybrid? No, just like sister models the VW Golf BlueMotion and the A3 1.6 TDI ultra, the GreenLine uses the latest 1.6 TDI engine, which Skoda says makes 81 kW (110 PS).
A number of fuel-saving measures have been taken to make the new Octavia GreenLine what it is, such as a lowered ride high, optimized gearing, low rolling resistance tires.
The end result is a diesel Octavia that runs like any other, but is capable of fuel consumption as low as 3.3 liters per 100 km on the combined cycle. CO2 emissions are also worthy of praise: 87 grams per kilometer.
“We are working full steam to further reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in our vehicles. ŠKODA models are already among the most economical cars in the market, and at an affordable price. Our GreenLine models are prime examples of our efforts in this area,” says Frank Welsch, ŠKODA board member for technical development.
Skoda says it will have GreenLine versions of the other cars in the near future, starting with the Rapid Spaceback in November.
