Czech automaker Skoda has unveiled three brand new Monte Carlo special edition models at the Geneva Motor Show 2014. The new vehicles are based on the Citigo, Yeti and Rapid Spaceback and join the available Fabia Monte Carlo and Fabia Combi Monte Carlo.
Created to pay homage to Skoda’s “113 years of successful motorsport history”, the Monte Carlo package is actually a trim level that comes with a number of sporty upgrades and attractive exterior colors. In other words, the Monte Carlo editions are bone stock under the hood, where customers will only find the company’s familiar petrol, diesel and CNG engines.

The smallest Monte Carlo-badges Skoda on display in Switzerland is the tiny Citigo. Available with either 15-inch “Auriga” or 16-inch “Seprens” aluminum wheels, the special edition city car is equipped with a black radiator grille frame, black side mirrors, a black rear diffuser and tinted windows and sunroof. Interior updates include exclusive black/red sports seats with grey stripes, a special Monte Carlo design dashboard, and black roof lining, carpeting and pillar trim.

Although the vehicle shown below is painted Tornado Red, the Citigo Monte Carlo will also become available in Candy White, Brilliant Silver and Deep Black.

Moving over to the Yeti Monte Carlo, the compact SUV is fitted with larger, black 17-inch aluminum wheels, black pillars and roof rail. Interior details are similar to those offered on the Citigo, but there are a few extras such as race style stainless steel pedals and red stitching for the floor mats. The crossover can be had in seven colors - Corrida Red, Magic Black, Candy White, Laser White, Moon White, Metal Grey and Brilliant Silver.

The third new member of the Monte Carlo family, the Rapid Spaceback, gained a black honeycomb air inlet, black-back headlamps, fog lamps and taillights, as well as a black roof spoiler and either 16-inch or 17-inch aluminum wheels. The hatchback’s cabin was equipped with the same features found in the Yeti, including the stainless steel pedals and the decorative trims on the front and back door sills.

“The success of the Monte Carlo versions of the ŠKODA Fabia and ŠKODA Fabia Combi demonstrates our customers’ desire for custom-designed cars with a certain spark,” said Werner Eichhorn, Skoda board member for sales and marketing. “With Monte Carlo editions of Citigo, Yeti and Rapid Spaceback, we have given our model offensive a new edge, recounting our successful motorsport tradition in production vehicles with appeal”.
