The introduction of new and updated Skoda models is boosting the automaker’s confidence, as they expecting a high number deliveries this year.
With the Octavia notchback having  entered in showrooms in November 2012, a wagon version to be launched in May and the Rapid Spaceback scheduled to go on sale later this year, Skoda is confident that it will increase sales for the 2013 fourth quarter. And this is just the tip, as the automaker has more plans to expand.

"As soon as the full volumes of the Octavia and the Spaceback will be available, the tide should continue to turn," said Skoda’s CEO Winfried Vahland.

Skoda plans eight new or refurbished models to come out and revise its line-up by 2015. Vahland said that they have plans to make even an SUV destined mostly for the Russian, Chinese and West European markets. The SUV could launch in 2016 and could be available as a five or seven-seater, produced between 150,000 and 200,000 units.

By expanding the Skoda range, VW Group is planing to overtake Toyota Motor Corp. and General Motors Co. as the world’s biggest carmaker by 2018.
