We’re about three weeks away from Skoda unveiling the Coupe version of its fully electric Enyaq iV crossover, an event that is set to take place on January 31 in the Czech capital city of Prague. The location makes perfect sense, seen as how this is yet another major milestone for the Czech carmaker.
Until then, Skoda has decided to send out another online teaser, in the form of an official sketch. It’s obvious that in Coupe form, the Enyaq looks more dynamic and emotive. It’s also more aerodynamic than the regular Enyaq, thanks to the sloping roofline.
As you probably already know, the Enyaq (regardless of body style) is based on the VW Group’s Modular Electrification Toolkit platform (MEB), which the Skoda EV shares with the likes of the VW ID.4 and ID.6, as well as the Audi Q4 e-tron and Q5 e-tron.
In terms of visuals, the Enyaq Coupe comes with body color side skirts and relatively large wheels, so that it can present a powerful stance. Meanwhile, the redesigned roofline makes it look more elegant – the roof begins to slope downwards from the B-pillar, merging seamlessly with the tailgate, which comes with SKODA lettering in block capitals, plus the carmaker’s signature C-shaped taillights.
The sketch also features a sporty front apron, which should be available on the real product at no extra cost (like on the regular Enyaq). Also, if you won’t have to pay extra to get the apron and side skirts in body color, well, more power to you.
As for the front fascia, the grille and headlights look identical to those on the non-Coupe variant, but the bumper is slightly different (more aggressive), which may or may not represent the final design.
Once in showrooms, the Skoda Enyaq Coupe will act as a direct rival for the likes of the Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and even the slightly smaller Volvo C40 Recharge.
