The SEAT Leon has joined the Golf GTD in offering a powerful new diesel engine for those customers who want both power and fuel economy. The 2.0 TDI which offers 184 PS and 380 Nm of torque is available on with the top Leon FR trim line and has already been priced for the British market.
Prices start at just £22,075 for the SC three-door version and only £300 more for the five-door hatch. This makes a lot less expensive than the VW Golf GTD, which in Britain goes for £25,285 (as a 3-door with a manual).

The new Leon FR 2.0 TDI is also much better value than the old one. Its engine produces 14 more PS than the old 170 PS model, while being 0.7 seconds quicker to the 62 mph, getting there in just 7.5 seconds. It's also very economical, as it offers the very same combined mpg rating as the outgoing Leon 1.6 TDI 105 PS: 67.3 mpg.

Equipment is generous and includes LED tail lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, FR-specific front- and rear bumpers, dark tinted windows, twin chrome exhaust pipes, sports suspension (lowered by 15 mm from standard), dual-zone climate control, front sports seats, SEAT Easy Connect media system including full colour touch screen interface, Bluetooth audio streaming and eight speakers, and SEAT Drive Profile.

In the UK, the new Leon FR 2.0 TDI will be available for a test drive in July, with deliveries scheduled for September.
