Is it a custom Toyota Camry? No... Is it a different market Auris? No, it’s a new Scion concept car. Finally, Toyota’s youth-oriented brand will get a new car. It’s called the iM Concept and it will be showcased at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
OK, it was about time Scion came up with another car for its lineup. Rumors about such an event started last year, with the automaker hinting at two new models coming out in 2017. Looks like they didn’t lie, and here it is... well, a chunk of a concept that previews at least one of the two cars.
The photos here show the front left quarter of the Scion iM Concept car and apart from telling you it is borrowing design cues from the Toyota Auris and the FCV, there’s nothing else what to say. It looks sharp, has distinctive headlights and daytime running light clusters as well as a huge “mouth”; too bad it will be a front wheel drive hatchback.
Whatever to come first, it should be lightweight, slightly plasticky and powered by at least a 1.8-liter gasoline engine or a refined 2.4-liter units from the current xB model.

Ahem... hatchback or sedan actually
Earlier reports were telling Scion prepares two new cars for the following years - a sedan or a hatchback. Sources said the hatch could be based on the 2014 Toyota Auris (Matrix model fans should be filled with excitement now) while the sedan, platform never offered by Scion so far, could be underpinned by the Mazda2 which will enter production at the Salamanca plant in Mexico.Whatever to come first, it should be lightweight, slightly plasticky and powered by at least a 1.8-liter gasoline engine or a refined 2.4-liter units from the current xB model.
