New Saab Owner Can’t Use Griffin Logo

Saab's Griffin logo stays clean 1 photo

Saab has recently been purchased by a company called NEVS (National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB), but while the latter has acquired the rights to most of the troubled carmaker’s assets, it won’t be able to use its griffin logo.
Scania and the Saab defense and aerospace group agreed with NEVS that while the logo stays on the shelf, the new owner can use the Saab name.

However, we can’t say that we feel this is a bad move. You see, NEVS, which is owned by National Modern Energy Holdings Lt, run by a Kai Johan Jiang, a Chinese businessman that has strong ties with Sweden will turn Saab into a company that builds EVs targeted at the Chinese market.

Since the aforementioned activity isn’t the most glorifying one for a carmaker that used to fight on the global market with premium ambitions, the fact that the proud logo will be kept out of this means that at least a piece of Saab’s image will live on.
