New S 63 AMG Demolishes Porsche Cayenne Turbo S in a Drag Race

As some of our British readers know, with the exception of cars built on the MFA (Modular Front-wheel Drive) platform and large SUVs, there aren't any Mercedes-Benz models with all-wheel drive available in the United Kingdom at this time.
Spider-Man's Uncle Ben once said that with great power comes great responsibility, so the lack of all-wheel drive on powerful AMG models with right-hand drive is certainly nothing to brag about in this day and age, when a downright 4Matic offensive has started in the rest of the world.

Among the 4Matic-less models available in the UK there is also the S 63 AMG, which has to send its 585 hp and monstrous 900 Nm (664 lb ft) of torque to the asphalt via just two wheels instead of all four like in the United States.

So, when the peeps from EVO decided to pit one against a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S in an impromptu drag race, we immediately jumped to the conclusion that the all-wheel drive super-SUV will pretty much mop the floor with the S 63 AMG, at least at lower speeds.

The Cayenne Turbo S has 550 hp and and a more-than-adequate 750 Nm (553 lb ft) of torque at its disposal, all while having to move a larger weight but with the added traction of four wheels.

On the other hand, its official 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time is 4.5 seconds, which is highly comparable with the 4.4 seconds required by the S 63 AMG with rear-wheel drive.

With that being said, the result of the drag race puts the UK-spec Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG in a pretty favorable light if you ask us, proving that on a sunny day it can not only keep up but pretty much obliterate the most powerful Porsche Cayenne in production.
