New Renault Master Panel Van Unveiled at CV Show

The new Renault Master is the latest commercial vehicle to get the "new" designation from the French carmaker. Following the reveal of the new Trafic, the Master is making its big debut today at the 2014 Commercial Vehicle Show and at a glance, it looks quite good. Orders will start being taken in June with the first examples being delivered a little after that!

A new look for the Master starts with the panel van's front fascial. This has a new grille with more chrome, a larger Renault logo for brand pride and reworked headlights.

A range of more economical 2.3-liter diesel engines will be offered with outputs going from 110 to 165 hp. Renault says that even the 165 hp model is very economical, averaging 41 mpg, equivalent to emissions of 180 grams per kilometers.

New Master models come with an ECOmode button, just like a Clio or Megane. This means that fuel consumption can be improved even further by up to 10 percent by dulling the pedal response, adjusting the engine’s torque and climate control settings.

Commercial vehicle buyers will enjoy a long list of new technologies, including latest-generation ESC, Grip Xtend, Hill Start Assist, Trailer Swing Assist and the clever Wide View mirror. Last but not least, the French company has announced plans for a more efficient L4 rear-wheel drive panel-van version of New Master with single rear wheels, ideal for long distance uses where extra tires wold affect the efficiency.
