New Renault Clio to Get 140 HP Warm Hatch Version

Renault might be ending its affair with its delicious high-revving naturally-aspirated engines for future hot Clios, but the hot hatch culture itself if flourishing inside the company. So, what does this mean? Well, first of all, the Clio IV RS will be powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged unit that will deliver about the same output as the current generation, 200 hp.

In addition to that, Renault is also considering building a warm hatch version of the Clio, which will use the company’s TCe turbocharged 1.2-liter engine to offer up to 140 hp, as autocar writes.

The engine will work with the six-speed dual clutch gearbox that can be found on its lower-powered versions, while the vehicle will come with a custom suspension that should gift it with superior handling.

However, Renault has a difficult job on its hands. You see, the previous CLio also came with such a version, which was called the GT and used the Twingo RS' 133 hp 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated engine. This was just a compromise that didn't really work in the real world and thus the project was a failure. Le's hope they get it right time.
