The Hemi engine has been an excellent way to share the performance between brands like Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep. But about ten years ago, Ram Trucks split off from the Dodge parent company, and we were always curious when it would enter the Hellcat era.

The good news is that we already have a pretty good idea about what's happening, the bad news being that it's not 100% relevant for the 2021 model year. You see, back in 2016, Ram unveiled the 1500 Rebel TRX in Texas. It was said to be a concept but looked ready for production.

The over-the-top stylingelements were all there, ranging from massive side exhaust pipes that seemed to capture the essence of the Viper, to an obvious widebody kit and beefed up components.

But now we're dealing with an all-new generation of the 1500 truck with different styling. Thankfully, Dodge Forum did put together a couple of renderings previewing what the 2021 TRX might look like. From the tall hood to the fender flairs, this bad boy has a lot going on.

All the information we have right now suggests the TRX will be powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, basically a truck version of the Hellcat motor. However, nobody is able to confirm the output, with the 2016 concept suggesting it could be lower than the Challenger or Trackhawk.

We'd be very happy even with about 600 horsepower because of all the cool mods you could do. The TRX sounds like it's going to make drag racing trucks a big thing, but we believe it will also be capable in other environments, thanks to adaptive suspension or adjustable electric steering.
