New Qoros 3 City SUV to Be Presented at Geneva Motor Show 2015

There are many Chinese car companies that want to sell cars in Europe and some of them are doing rather well in Russia and other ex-Soviet countries. But Qoros is different. They built one of the safest cars ever a couple of years ago and now, they're backing that up with a small crossover, something almost every European buyer seems to want these days.

The 2015 edition of the Geneva Motor Show will play host to the debut of the Qoros 3 City SUV, which is " designed for a more premium metropolitan lifestyle, perfect for urban cruising and country driving."

Just like every other crossover on the market, City SUV comes with a jacked up stance, larger wheels and protective body cladding. Drivers will enjoy a more dominant driving position. We'd stop short of calling it a design masterpiece, but it's certainly more dignified than the Nissan Juke and hasn't copied any European model. From the back, it almost looks like a concept car, with twin exhaust pits integrated into an aluminum skirt and well defined stop light graphics. Rear visibility may be an issue though, as the arches are sloped and the C-pillars create blind spots.

Because the Qoros 3 City SUV went on sale in China last year, it's not such a big mystery as the company would have you believe. Under the bonnet is a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine making 156 hp and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque for the front wheels to use via a six-speed manual gearbox or a dual-clutch automatic transmission. Fuel economy isn't bad either, rated at 6.8 l/100km (34.5 US mpg) with the manual and 6.9 l/100km (34 US mpg) with the auto, according to the NEDC cycle.

Four different trim levels will be offered, Active, Style, Style Plus and Excite. Just to give you an idea of what it might cost to buy in Paris or Brussels, prices in China start at 140,000 yuan, which is equivalent to €19,800 at today's exchange rate.
