New Porsche 911 Turbo (992) Rendered, Looks So Understated

Ladies and gentlemen drivers, the supercar genre is about to receive what might just be its most practical member to date. I'm referring to the 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo, with prototypes of the Zuffenhausen toy currently being in their final phase of development.

The 992 Turbo should make its debut by the end of the year. And, as far as customer deliveries are concerned, the rumor mill already taks about the first clients set to receive their toy in April next year.

Having experience the expanded breath of ability that describes the 992 Porsche 911 Carrera S, my expectations for the Turbo are sky-high.

So not only should the newcomer be able to fight its rivals in the supercar segment, but the German will probably be even better at the daily driver game than before.

Once again, active aero, such as a front skirt, will allow the rear-engined machine to come with an impressive ground clearance for its segment.

And while the generation change might bring a weight penalty of around 50 kilos (the Otto Particulate Filter is one of the culprits), the extra power and the wider tracks will more than make up for this.

Speaking of the engine compartment contents, the ever-stricter emission regulations mean Porsche could retire the current 3.8-liter unit and come up with an all-new engine, perhaps based on the 3.0-liter mill of the Carrera S.

Regardless, you can expect the Turbo to pack at least 600 ponies. As for the 911 Turbo S, well, this could follow the path set by the Panamera and Cayenne, thus becoming the Turbo S E-Hybrid. Nevertheless, we might have some 3-5 years of waiting to do, with the move possibly coming for the ".2" mid-cycle revamp of the 992.

And with the 2020 Carrera S being able to lap the Nurburgring in 7:25, we could expect the Turbo to go below the 7m mark.
