New Porsche 911 Targa: This Could Be It

If Porsche wanted to surprise its fans at the Detroit Motor Show with its new 2015 911 Targa, the surprise might have been spoiled as an interesting picture was recently leaked. The said photo features the real deal, from the press booklet and not captured by our spies or leaked in patent images.

If that’s the case, Porsche’s 2015 911 Targa will have a removable roof panel that will probably be made out of a material such as aluminum, directly above the passengers’ heads.  This won’t be the only new thing as it will also incorporate a roll bar adorned by three small vertical air vents, a large wraparound rear window, all design features that were first seen in the 1967 Targa.

Concerning its interior, we’re pretty sure no extreme changes will be made and the car will actually incorporate a similar dashboard to the 911 Convertible’s. On the exterior, again we find numerous similarities to the existing convertible variants, starting from the rocker panels and moving up to the belt line.

As far as the engine is concerned, the standard Targa will have a 3.4-liter flat-six rated at 350 horsepower and the Targa S will feature a 3.8-liter flat-six, 400 horsepower.

If the image truly portrays the 2015 Targa model, these spoilers were just the tip of the iceberg, the big unveil happening at the Detroit Motor Show. However, we think the press release will come out over the weekend, giving fans plenty of time to go over the details.
