New Porsche 911 Spotted Without Camouflage

A new generation of the iconic Porsche 911 is in the works, one that’s bigger, roomier and more refined. Extra power is also part of the deal, but it’s becoming more evident as time goes by that the model expected to debut in Frankfurt will get an extra gear for efficiency.

However, we’re not here to talk about rumors and speculation, but to bring the sportscar contender in all its glory to your attention. A recent post on Team Speed brings us the first video of the car completely undisguised, showing all of the sheetmetal of the upcoming Carrera S model.

We’re really curios why, in the era of the Internet and of the HD-capable iPhone, Porsche found it wise to let
such a car loose on the road. Most of the video is focused on the back end, which is longer and more coupe-ish. We can’t really tell for sure, but when the 911 enters a tunnel, we spot the actual U-shaped configuration of the stoplights. Looks as if there is still some red tape around the edges in an effort to still hide their true shape, but it’s not really working, is it?

The video also sows an interesting new wheel design, as well as a new color that seems to be a very dark shade of blue.

The Carrera S, which we are probably looking at, is expected to arrive with 400 horsepower from its 3.8-liter flat-six, while the base Carrera will share its 350 horsepower 3.4-liter with the next Boxster S. Launch Control will be available on both the 7-speed manual and 7-speed PDK, while fuel efficiency will be improved by 12 to 15 percent on the European test cycle.

We can also show you an awesome rendering by Auto Bild, which seems to be spot-on!
