New Porsche 911 Facelift Spied on the Nurburgring and in Prague – Photo Gallery

Have you heard the news lately? It so happens that the Frankfurt Motor Show in September will see the debut of the 2016 Porsche 911 facelift, tentatively dubbed series 991.2. Other than the typical visual makeover, the Porsche 991.2 will see the German model wave goodbye to naturally aspirated H6 lumps.

You've heard that right! From the simple Carrera all the way to the Turbo S, the 2016 Porsche 911 facelift will be force-fed. If you can't do without natural aspiration, you'd better start saving for a GT3 or GT3 RS, the only 911s that'll keep the N/A candle burning.

This information is not confirmed by Porsche themselves, but sources hint towards a 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera animated by a turbocharged 2.7 boxer engine. For the facelifted Carrera S, the manufacturer will make use of a turbocharged 3.4-liter boxer motor with the traditional horizontally opposed 6-pot layout.

The output of the force-fed engines isn't known at the present moment, but the seven-speed manual and PDK dual-clutch transmission are go. Some voices claim that the 2.7 turbo-6 will develop 407 PS (300 kW), but as stated beforehand, actual figures are expected to be different from what is known right now.

In terms of styling, our spy photographers did a great job with showcasing what the styling front brings new for the 2016 Porsche 911 facelift. In addition to our photos, we thank Nürburgring Bridge To Gantry and Cossie670 for spy pics of the 991.2 doing its thing on the Nurburgring race track and in Prague.

The former comments on his Facebook page that "it sounds like one of the new downsized turbo motors." The inevitable will happen, and we can't do anything about it: all future Porsche 911s sans the hardcore GT3 series will go force-fed for added oomph and better eco credentials. Sad times we're living in, innit?
