New Pagani Zonda 760 LM Has Le Mans Headlights

One of the many reasons for which we love the Pagani Zonda is that this hypercar has the wrong name. It should be called the Pagani Phoenix. Seriously, just when you think its Huayra “replacement” has eliminated it, the Zonda is reborn. In spite of that, we really though the Zonda was gone and now here we are, looking at the argument that stands against that - meet the Zonda 760 LM.

One-off Zondas such as this one are usually named after their owner and yet in this case, the “LM” stands for exactly what you think, Le Mans.

According to the guys over at Prototype Zero, who apparently stalk Paganis on a daily basis, the story of the Zonda 760 LM started back in November last year. Horaccion Pagani must have some special glasses or something, since the man sees every Zonda frame as a white sheet of paper and this is obviously what happened with this example of the car.

By April this year, the 760 LM has reached about 60 percent of its development and the Italians finished the job recently, with the vehicle you see here being spotted last week.

Not surprisingly, the Zonda 760 LM actually learns a thing or two from Le Mans prototype racers, sporting massive aerodynamic elements that set it apart. We’ll mention the rear wing, as well as the roof air scoop - Zonda R memories anybody? Nonetheless, the headlights are the closest elements to what we’ve seen on Le Mans prototypes, being completely different to the Zonda’s signature design.

As you could expect, the carbon fiber of the body is exposed, while the vehicle borrows some of the features of the Zonda 760 RS, including the wide body elements. Engine-wise, this means we should expect about 760 hp. Knowing Pagani’s ways, we should actually be prepared for something closer to 800 horses.

With such a racing attitude, we’re not all that interested about the cabin. Still, this is a Pagani, so the exquisite interior treatment is here by default. To be more precise, we are talking about black and white leather, plenty of carbon fiber, as well as anodized aluminium.

Given the costs of the new one-off parts, the Zonda 760 LM will probably come with an astronomical price. Still, the big question here is whether it will surpass the Zonda R Revolucion’s EUR 2,2 million (US$ 3 million) jackpot.
