We have speculated in the past that the basic 1.6-liter base engine will be replaced by a 1.2-liter DIG-S engine like the one fitted to the Micra. However, British magazine AutoCar contradicts that today with a report that states the base engine will actually be another type of 1.2-liter.

They say that the Qashqai will come with the 1.2-liter DIG-T engine, a four-cylinder turbo, not a three-cylinder supercharged unit. This same engine is fitted the Renault models like the Clio GT and the facelifted Dacia Duster.

For its Nissan Qashqai application, it will offer 115 PS, according to AutoCar, and about 180 Nm of torque.

The other engine options for this second generation crossover will be the 110 PS dCi diesel and the 130 PS 1.6 dCi.
