Word going round the rumor mill right now is that BMW will stop production of the Coupe and Roadster models in 2015, not because they'll make brand new models based on the UKL platform, but because sales haven't gone as well as expected and they need to be discontinued.
Still, the two-seaters are some of the funkiest cars around, and lots of people like them, even though this hasn't translated into outright sales. One has a back-to-front baseball hat for a roof, the other is a more appealing and sporty drop-top than the four-seater MINI Convertible.
So, just in case MINI doesn't discontinue the pair, let's see what they would look like if the Cooper and Roadster were based on the new Oxford architecture. X-Tomi Design has rendered the two based on press photos of the 2014 Cooper S hatchback. A slight increase in size is evident, as are the new headlights.
Editor's note: perhaps if BMW would have allowed MINI to offer LED headlights and all-round parking sensors, the Coupe and Roadster would have sold a little better.
