New MINI Cooper Concept to Be Unveiled This Week?

The next generation MINI Cooper (and One) hatchback is currently been developed together with the first front-wheel drive BMW ever, the 1-Series GT. We know that already, but what we didn't know is what the MINI looked like (the Bimmer was previewed by a Concept Active Tourer).

But we only have to wait until the end of the week to find out what the third-gen MINI looks like, if a report from Autonews Europe proves to be true. According to them, the new Cooper will be shown this week in Helsinki, Finland, at a dealer meeting.

That's the good news. The bad news is that it will only go on sale in March next year, more than a year from now. What gives BMW?

We can only presume that this is the usual concept-car-into-production-model shenanigan, as the new MINI cooper will be shown as a concept in Geneva to gouge people's reactions to the car. A bigger, uglier car with five doors and three-cylinder engines… what's not to like!
