We’ve never been big fans of the MINI Convertible, since the back seats are as impractical as in a sportscar and the looks are iffy at best with the roof up. But unlike the two-seater Cabrio, it’s got class of the sort you use to look cool while driving at 20 mph. Now though, there’s a new special edition that plays with browns and a splash of blue striping.
This is the MINI Convertible Highgate that will be on sale powered by a choice of two petrol engines, the 122 hp Cooper and the 184 hp Cooper S, plus two diesels in the form of the 112 hp Cooper D and 143 Cooper SD.
The Highgate will be available in all MINI markets from April, offering a distinct Iced Chocolate metallic hue for the body with brown/black bonnet stripes with blue edging. The soft-top is also brown, but to make sure you don’t lose it in a pile of mud, the wheels aren’t. Optionally, you can have the body finished in Midnight Black and White Silver metallic.
But brown has a lot of appeal these days, and the interior finished in Dark Truffle with light contrast stitching and light blue piping is cool. Standard features include Suntouched Brushed Alloy interior trim elements, steel pedals and added Chrome Line Interior package.
