MG Motor will showcase its new and seriously updated MG5 EV at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, which is set to kick off tomorrow, June 23. Visitors will be able to see the fully electric station wagon at the event’s dedicated EV section on Electric Avenue.
Compared to its predecessor, the revised MG5 EV comes with new front and rear bumpers, redesigned LED headlights and taillights, new wheels, plus Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) capability, which we first saw on the all-new ZS EV, launched back in November of last year.
This system allows users to power other electric devices using the energy stored in the battery, like e-bikes, portable heaters or camping equipment.
Inside, the new MG5 EV boasts several upgrades, including a revised dashboard design, a 10.25-inch widescreen display for the infotainment system, featuring better software, plus the ability to support iSMART connected car functionality through the carmaker’s dedicated smartphone app.
Technically, the MG5 EV is the only fully electric station wagon in its segment and has so far proven to be relatively popular with both private and business customers – over 8,000 units have been sold in the UK since it was launched in November of 2020.
“The MG5 EV has quickly established a strong following as a practical, affordable and efficient estate car and we’re seeking to build upon that success by offering customers an even more attractive, compelling design as well as a generous range of technology upgrades," said MG Motor UK commercial director, Guy Pigounakis.
"The MG ‘Get More’ philosophy is a key part of our approach – we believe our customers should get more and as standard - and we are confident that the new MG5 EV strongly reflects this.”
Further details about the new and improved MG5 EV, such as UK pricing and first deliveries, will be released soon.
