Chinese-owned British brand MG unveiled its latest car at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show yesterday. If the car the MG3, and from what we understand, this 2014 model is actually coming to Europe soon.
Those of you who wanted a hatchback in say 2005 probably know what the MG3 is already. Before the company went bankrupt, they made this car as a sort of semi-potent supermini based on the Rover 25 sister car. It was called the MG ZR and came with a 160 horsepower 1.8-liter engine and a manual gearbox.

Now, the company has forgotten all about being hot and the ‘3’ is just another supermini. MG says the car is designed to appeal to the trendy European customers, and we have to admit it sort of looks like a Citroen C3.

“Our new baby will be powered by a healthy 105PS version of our own VTi-TECH petrol engine, joining the MG6 DTi-TECH and TCi-TECH engines in the European family.  The dynamic and responsive VTi-TECH engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that makes this little baby perfectly suited to nipping in and out of city traffic or enjoying a great British B road,” MG UK says about their hatchback.

From what we know, that means a 1.5-liter engine. Because it’s been available in China since 2011, we can tell you the MG3 features a MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear axle. The car will be assembled from kits sent over by Chinese carmaker SAIC Motor later this year.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
