New Mazda6 Goes Down Under

After making its world debut at this year’s Geneva Auto Show, the revised Mazda6 range finally reached Australian shores. The Mazda6 range is available in a choice of hatch, sedan and wagon body styles, reportedly being the only medium car in Australia to offer this choice.

Leading the range is the new Mazda6 Touring Wagon equipped with leather trim, power adjustable front seats and front and rear parking sensors.

The new Mazda6 is available in a choice of either petrol or diesel power units, namely the the MZR 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine or the MZR-CD 2.2-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine. All manual models have also received the Hill Launch Assist function for smooth hill starts.

The carmaker says the standard safety equipment across the Mazda6 range achieved a 5-star ANCAP rating and include six SRS airbags, ABS and DSC.

The sporty look of the new Mazda6 family is given by new headlamps and rear lamps with chrome-look plating and a wing motif, new flowing-design fog lamp bezels, as well as new lightweight 17 and 18-inch wheel designs.

Inside, the car boasts new dials and knobs with high-quality chrome-look plating, new piano-black trim for the audio and climate control panels and the steering wheel spokes, new dashboard decoration panel finishes and new patterns for seat upholstery.

The ten body color palette include two colors new to Mazda (Clear Water Blue Mica and Midnight Bronze Mica) and two colors new to the Mazda6 (Graphite Mica and Black Mica). Pricing for the Australian market are yet to be disclosed by the manufacturer.
