Lexus brought its new 2-liter turbocharged engine at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show, which will fit the production version NX model. The automaker didn’t say to much about its performance but the company confirmed it’s targeting to beat the BMW 2-liter.
Speaking at the motor show, Lexus group manager of product design Teru Ogawa said that “in terms of torque, we are now aiming to achieve the same level as a V6 engine” after which he confirmed that the V6 in cause is the 3.5-liter one, that develops no less than 380 Nm of torque.
Moreover, Ogawa said “yes” when asked whether the turbocharged engine was developed to beat the BMW 2-liter turbo four in terms of torque. Also, the company appears to have plans for bigger turbocharged engines in the future.
